HOW A GAME IS PLAYED :

Players form two teams of two. The dealer deals 9 cards to each player, three by three. The player with the 7 of diamonds is the one who chooses trump in the first deal and begins the game. For other deals, the player to the right of the dealer chooses trump. Partners on the same team can both announce trump.

The player holding the hand then plays his first card, the player to his right does the same, and so on. Players must play a card of the same suit as the player holding the hand. If the player who has the hand does not have a card of the same suit, he announces that he cannot follow and plays a card of the opposite suit. A player may cut, i.e. lay down a card of the trump suit when the player who had the hand had started with another suit.

However, if a player has already cut, he is not allowed to undercut, i.e. lay down a trump of lower value than the one previously laid down, unless he has no other cards left.

A player who has the trump jack is not obliged to play it, even if the basic suit of the trick is the trump suit and it is the only card of this suit remaining in his hand. The player who has played the highest trump wins the trick for his team.

He picks it up and the points it contains are immediately awarded to the team. He takes his hand and lays down the first card of the next trick. When players run out of cards, the round ends. The team that wins the last trick gets 5 extra points (Five of der). The player to the right of the current dealer becomes the new dealer for the next round.

At the end of each round, the teams score their points in a special way.

Counting points in Jass

The scoreboard is divided into two parts, one for each team. Points are scored on 3 lines, as follows: the top line is made up of check marks, each worth 100 points, the middle line is made up of crosses

is made up of crosses, a half cross worth 50 points and a full cross worth 100 points, then the bottom line is made up of check marks worth 20 points. The units are noted on the right, by adding or subtracting them. It's easier to record points after each announcement than at the end of the round. Players thus add their points as they go along.

THE WINNER IS :

The game ends when a team has scored 1,000 points. Note that if team members announce 1,000 points, but are wrong, their opponent wins the game.
